I played competition basketball for 10 years in wollongong before I moved to Sydney. In wollongong finding a team to join was easy, especially when you knew people.

I have not played competition basketball for about 5 years since I moved to Sydney. I play streetball in the hope that I can find someone that needs players. No luck!

I have already tried to join as an individual at Ryde Basketball- my closest court. I did not find it a good overall experience. I wanted to play in the long winter competition in division two on tuesdays. After leaving my contact details with the court controller at the venue and with the Ryde Bulls email, I was not contacted for weeks. I got tired of waiting and started asking teams myself if they wanted players. I eventually found a team that gave me a run one night, that team then asked me to play the following week. I came ready to play the following week and found that the team that I joined had been disbanded by the competition organisers due to lack of players and not paying outstanding playing fees from the previous season.

I contacted the competition organiser to see if he could place me into another team. He said he can definately get me a game in the wednesday social competition. I left my details with the organiser who then would pass them on to the team captains. That was April and still no reply. I really do not what want to go to the Ryde Basketball court every competition night just to find a team, it's depressing!

After all that I am still willing to join a team or start a team at Ryde even though I am a little disheartened by my experience. I am happy to pay the rego fees/court fees they ask and show up every week. Plus I can play a little too.
