Hello, I've just moved to Perth from Cardiff, Wales. I'd really like to get into triathlons, I have no experience and would be a complete novice! I'm free most week nights and most weekends. Many thanks, Clare

I am keen to meet someone to swim with (open water preferable), cycle with and run with. I've bee training and racing long course triathlon for 6 years. I'm a teacher so I like to train before work and in the afternoons/early evenings. I live in St Kilda and I'm new here - just moved from NSW so I'm still learning the best places to train.

About Triathlon in Australia

Triathlon combines swimming, cycling, and running into a single multi-sport race, testing overall fitness, pacing strategy, and mental resilience. Events range from the beginner-friendly 'super sprint' format to the iconic Ironman distance.

Getting Started

Triathlon Australia affiliated clubs run beginner programs that address all three disciplines and guide athletes through their first race. Starting with a super sprint or sprint distance event is recommended before progressing to longer formats. A bike, wetsuit (for open water), and running shoes are the key equipment needs.

Triathlon in Australia

Triathlon events are held year-round across Australia, from local club races to major events like the Port Macquarie Ironman, Melbourne 70.3, and Noosa Triathlon. Find triathlon training partners and clubs near you on Sports Match Maker.
