About Wheelchair sports in Australia
Wheelchair sports encompass a wide range of disciplines — including wheelchair basketball, wheelchair tennis, wheelchair rugby, and wheelchair racing — designed for athletes with physical disabilities. Competition is fierce, and Australia has a proud tradition of excellence in Paralympic sport.
Getting Started
Wheelchair Sports Australia and state-based disability sport organisations provide pathways into dozens of wheelchair sports disciplines. Most sports provide loaner sports wheelchairs for new participants to try before purchasing their own. All skill and ability levels are welcome.
